STEWART (North Berwick) Annie (Nan) (nee Fawkes), born October 4, 1918, died quietly and peacefully, at home, on Monday, July 20, 2020, she was the beloved wife of Alfred Stewart, who passed away in 2005. Nan was one of the first married women to train as a teacher after World War II, at Dundee College of Education. She spent her entire career devoted to the education of primary school children in the city. An active Quaker in Dundee and St Andrews Meetings, she was inspired by books, classical music and travelling. Nan loved her family of four sons and one daughter, their partners, twelve grandchildren and their partners, and sixteen great-grandchildren, to whom she unfailingly sent birthday and Christmas cards to the very end.
