Hazel Bruce 'Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow' I have been so blessed to receive good news regarding my recent illness. After having my tumour removed, I underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Herceptin which have successfully treated my cancer and which, God willing, will prevent it from returning. I would now like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey over the last eighteen months. The kindness and generosity, help and prayers of so many people, too many to mention, has been overwhelming but has been so very much appreciated. It is this love and support which has given me the strength to keep going and got me through. Special thanks go to the following: The highly respected and regarded Dr Trevor Mc Goldrick and his team at Clinic D, Oncology, ARI. Dr Mc Goldrick's kindly and cheerful manner allayed my fears in some tough times and his skills and medical prowess helped cure me, I am eternally grateful to have met Dr Mc Goldrick and am blessed for his part in my life. Doctor Gregor Bruce and his staff at Peterhead Health Centre and the Doctors and staff at the clinics at both Peterhead and Aberdeen for the initial screening. I was then referred to Surgeon Miss Elizabeth Smyth who was patient and thorough with her examination and who skillfully and successfully removed the tumour. The entire staff at the Chemotherapy ward including nursing staff, doctors, kitchen aids, the highly experienced and invaluable Macmillan and Anchor support workers who even provided pampering sessions to ease the burden of the cruel treatments. Radiologist Dr Annie Kennedy and all the team in her department where I visited daily for three weeks and was treated with the utmost professional and compassionate care. 'Healthcare at Home' must also receive a special mention - they have a wonderful team of caring nurses who visited my home every three weeks for a year to administer my follow up treatment. A lovely bunch of girls, each with their own busy lives but always with time to spend explaining every detail over a cup of tea. The NHS, we have a brilliant service available to us and sometimes don't appreciate it. From the moment I received my diagnosis I have received nothing but the best care and attention. I've been privileged not only to be treated by the best skilled medical personnel but also to be given the use of all necessary equipment and been administered the powerful drugs, into both of which have gone so many years of expertise in development and testing. My dear Husband Bertie, darling Daughter and Son, Wilma Lynne and Ian and the extended family. They have cared for me and carried me through in whatever way I've needed and I will be ever thankful for the joy and blessing of family love. To my Church family for their faithful support, prayers and visits to and for myself and Bertie. To our wider family, friends, and neighbours for prayers, practical help, acts of kindness, gifts including flowers, food, M&S goodie bags, baking handed in to the house, home visits and calls from family from as far as Canada and friends from as far as America. To our dear friends who have attended to our garden and flowers, cleaned the house and have gone far above and beyond the call of duty. To my Facebook friends whose kind wishes, perhaps just a simple note or comment at a time of need, have in their own way, helped me through. I celebrated my 70th Birthday during my Chemotherapy when I was at my lowest point, I received so many lovely gifts and well wishes and didn't have the strength at the time to thank everyone so a belated 'Thank You'. 'God is Good' - from what has been a very hard time in my life, I'm delighted to have met some lovely people along the way and have forged strong relations with family and friends, medical staff, friends in the Lord and fellow suffers, God willing, Survivors, at all times, safe in the assurance that God has been watching over me. Thank You Hazel Bruce
