THOMPSONDr. Barbara Thompson O. B. E, aged 95 years, on June 22, 2017, suddenly taken ill at The Manorhey Care Centre, Urmston, Manchester, and passed away shortly afterwards at Salford Royal Hospital. Graduate of Manchester University, lived in Milltimber, Aberdeen for 70 or more years. Scholar and researcher with The Medical Research Council at Aberdeen and Glasgow Universities. Dearly loved sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt, and dear and valued friend and colleague to many. A wonderful life lived fully and well. Well respected by all, Barbara will be greatly missed. Many thanks to care staff at The Manorhey, paramedics and hospital staff who tried so hard. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, her funeral was private and took place at Manchester Crematorium. At a later date, her ashes will be dispersed at Drum Castle, where she spent many happy times with friends.
