Arielle ran the London ALSG office when I was a tour guide and she was such a wonderful and fair manager. She also was a warm and fun colleague when she was working earlier in Paris. She was also the epitome of charm, elegance and lovely character...when I saw Amelie, it made me think of Arielle - so French and so quietly stylish. And full of fun! I remember she recounted being taken out for a meal by the US managers. They hadn't told her that they were paying for the meal and it was a really expensive restaurant so she ordered the cheapest food. She found out at the very end of the meal and promptly burst into tears! They duly responded by bringing profiteroles. And the time some low life spat on her at the Pompidou Centre for no reason whatsoever so she asked him why? Normally you would worry that this kind of person would get even more unduly aggressive. I was stunned because her presence was so assertive and gentle that he turned around and apologised! A great loss but warm memories which do live on. Best wishes Kate Howard
