WAKEMAN
Margaret
Wife
April 11, one year on.
I knelt beside your pillow in the dead watch of the night, I heard your gentle breathing but your face was still and white and on your poor wan cheek a tear told how the heart can weep and I whispered, my love is weary, God bless her she is asleep.
I knelt beside your gravestone in the shuddering Autumn night, I heard the dry grass rustle and my face was thin and white and through my heart the tremor ran, of grief that cannot weep and I whispered, my love was weary, God bless her she's asleep.
Michael.
